I had a big ass show on January 17th in Lucerne. The preparation for this show took me almost half a year. Every minute I wasn't teaching I invested into this show, yes, hundreds of hours. The music itself took an insane amount of work. Out of the nine songs that we played (57 minutes of music) I arranged six of them for rockband and orchestra, and three of them for just rockband. Every single note, except for one or two guitar solos, were composed and written down on sheet music. I programmed all that music on Logic with virtual instruments, for my musicians to get demos and to play along to those demos at home. During the show a lot of the programmed music was playing in addition to what we were playing live.

In addition to the music I built my own in ear monitoring rack. That was a big financial investment and I'm hoping it's going to pay itself off one day. It works perfectly and just how I had planned it. In that rack I have a small unit that controls lights. Yes, I also programmed the lights for the entire show. Programming the lights took me somewhere around 50 hours. Yep, I didn't sleep much.
The musicians performed great, especially considering that most of them only got one rehearsal and some of them didn't get a single rehearsal. A big thanks to them for taking my vision seriously and making the show possible.
I will do a post-mortem on the show soon. I have video and audio recordings of almost everything and I'll of course share them with you as soon as they're ready. But for now, I have one new single that's being mixed right now and another single that I finished recording in December and can now finally start editing.
Thanks,
Patrick Buzo
